Are We There Yet?!Are we there yet? Are we at our new house yet?!?! Tomorrow is moving day and if I keep moving, we will be ready. Jaye got the TV/video game stuff and computer packed last night and the rest is up to me...I packed some after work last night and have loaded up some boxes today, but the stuff is never-ending! Ugh! Hope and I took a carload to the new house this morning and thanks to my new laser level, I got curtain rods up. I also managed to get child-proof latches on our kitchen cupboards while Hope played. We had a good morning playing at the new house and I am loving having a playroom for Hope! The crew comes at 9am tomorrow and I am hoping we'll be unloaded at the new house by 3....we shall see. Is it bad that I'm already wishing it were a few weeks from now so we could be unpacked and settled?!?! I am very excited to live at our new house and for a home of our own, but this packing stuff has really gotten to me and I am so over it.

2 days til the moveWell, only 2 days left til we move...YIKES! Here's our packing statuses as of now: -I am happy to report that the kitchen is almost done. The cupboards are empty and all that is left is the stuff we need until Saturday. When Saturday comes, I'll just toss it all in a box! -Hope's room is done aside from the clothes in her dresser and a few board games left in the closet. -The hall bath is packed with the exception of the things Jaye needs to get ready. -Hall closet only has 3 coats and some hangers left. -Master still has work to be done...hangers hanging around, clean clothes to be taken to new house, shower stuff packed up and transfered. -Living room is still a mess...need to pack up all the TV/game/DVD stuff and then there's Hope's stuff...EVERYWHERE! Oh well, I'm leaving out her toys until the last minute..that way she at least has one spot of "normal". Yesterday I had myself a mini-meltdown as I just got overwhelmed with the mountains of boxes and little things to be packed. I found myself a bit bitter that Jaye got to be at work while I had to pack up all our stuff. I have to remind myself that it really will get done...I just have to keep moving no matter how sick I am of packing boxes!!! Hope update...(read more)

How Do They Do It?I am beginning to wonder how in the world this move is going to happen with Hope around. Yesterday we spent another 6 hours at the new house, trying to get some projects finished and cleaned up. We got there to discover our red wall needed yet another coat so up the ladder I went to paint coat #4. Ugh! Once layer 4 dried, we attempted to take off the tape only to find that the paint had seeped under the blue tape to leave a very rough edge all the way around. Jaye had to climb the ladder with white and red paint, and 2 small paint brushes and touch it up by hand. So annoying! We decided that the red in our kitchen is way too dark, even though it is supposed to be the same color, only semi-gloss instead of eggshell....not so much. We now need to go back and put a primer up so we can just use the eggshell all the way into the kitchen. Dumb paint! On a happy note, Hope's room turned out pretty good...just a few touch ups with the white paint. Jaye's Dad was over early in the morning and got Hope's blinds up in her room and I got it vacuumed last night so her room is move-in ready! My parents were kind enough to come out for a few hours yesterday to help out. My Dad got our TP holder and towel-bar up in our hall bathroom and my Mom helped watch Hope while I painted. Hope is figuring out that things are out of sort and she has become extra clingy....which I think is very normal. While my Mom was with Hope I was able to put contact paper in our top cupboards in the kitchen and got our dishes/glasses put away. 1 less thing to do next weekend! We found a toy holder/storage system for the playroom so my Mom got that put together too and I really like it! I'm excited for Hope's playroom!!! Jaye was a busy bee yesterday too. He got our garage all swept out and ready to go. We brought over a load of camping gear, large frames and pictures, and a few random boxes and Jaye got all of those put away. He also got our front porch swept up so there is no longer broken glass. He worked with the sprinklers again and disovered someone had stolen 1 over night...so annoying! We finally got home around 9pm and loaded up our driveway with a load of stuff for the Salvation Army pick up today...I hope they take all of it. Anyway...our move is 4 days away and I am a little skeptical. I am so ready to move and get settled at our new house, but I'm not really sure how everything is going to get done between now and then. Mainly little things and odds-n-ends left to pack, which I think I will just throw into a few boxes and call it a day. I'm needing to spend quality time with Hope and keep our lives as normal as I can this week as she senses all the change. My patience is running low and I am going to need an extra measure of grace this week as I attempt to be a good Mom in the midst of all this.

Done, Done, and DoneToday we planned to spend the morning at our new house, getting some stuff done...we ended up there ALL day long! We started our day bright and early and were on the road by 6:45am. We had to drop Jaye's car off to get serviced and then take Hope to Grandma and Grandpa's (Jaye's parents) house. We got Hope settled and I think we were at the new house by 9am. We planned on painting 2 walls: 1 pink on in Hope's room and 1 red one in our dining room/kitchen. We also planned on switching out the face-plates on the outlets so we could install baby-proof ones instead. We planned on being over there for a few hours, that's it....HA! 9 hours later we left the house...I got the 2 walls painted with 3 coats each, but the kitchen portion of the red wall will still need another coat or two! Us and our crazy red wall!! Somehow, Jaye got out of painting yet again...he's getting good at escaping the paint process! Jaye's Dad came over and helped us change out the face-plates and replaced other outlets and switches for us. Jaye's Dad also helped me install the window hardware and get our living room curtains hung...they look great!!! After hanging the curtains in the living room with Jaye's Dad I figured I could do the guest room ones by myself...well....they are up, but the left side is about 1/4-1/2 inch too low! So frustrating! I'll deal with it later! I had installed the new locks and deadbolts on Wednesday but couldn't get 1 screw to go in so I had asked Jaye's Dad to help today with that...turns out it wasn't me, it was the door-knob. We had to take all of them back and start with a whole new set. Jaye's Dad was kind enough to do them while I painted. Jaye played with the sprinklers out front...trying to contain Ol' Faithful from gushing water everywhere...I think he took care of it for now by stealing one of the sprinklers from the backyard. Jaye got our blinds hung in the garage and playroom and they look great! He got Hope's blinds started, but it turns out we still need 1/8th of an inch taken off to get it into the bracket. So annoying! So...we got quite a bit done and I am getting very excited to move in and settle into our HOME!!! Tomorrow we'll try to get the kitchen wall done, the other window hardware installed, the garage remotes reset, and the carpet vacuumed..we shall see how that goes with the munchkin around! Speaking of the munchkin...click on "READ MORE"...
